What is Reflexology?

Reflexology works on the principle that there are reflex points in the feet that relate to every organ, gland and area of the body. Reflexologists use thumb and finger pressure to stimulate these points, which will have a corresponding balancing and revitalising effect on the area being treated.

Reflexology is an holistic approach, treating the whole person, rather than specific symptoms. It has many beneficial effects.

Carmen got involved in the world of complementary therapies after suffering with a hormonal imbalance for nearly 10 years. After trying many different approaches and not finding any relief to the symptoms that were ruling her life and had turned it upside down affecting her family life, she was introduced to Reflexology and Reiki by a wonderful friend and therapist.

After a few Reflexology treatments and within three months of being attuned to Level 1 in Reiki I was able to give up conventional treatments. I was astounded, and a seed was planted. My health and my lifestyle improved so much that I started to think I wanted to show other people what complementary therapies can do. This is when Carmen decided to train as a Reflexologist.

The training was a journey of discovery for her as she learned many things about herself. Carmen even made it to Finalist for Student of the Year Award, organised by The Federation of Holistic Therapists, of which she is a proud member.

Reflexology is a wonderful non-intrusive therapy based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower leg and hands correspond with different areas of the body. By applying pressure to specific points, it can aid relaxation and promote healing.

Thai Foot Massage (with Reflexology points) is a wonderful technique that aids relaxation and healing as well as stimulation of the body systems. It is a fantastic therapy for active people as it can improve blood circulation. It works on the legs and feet where pressure and massage techniques are applied by the therapist, either with the hands or a small wooden stick to stimulate specific areas.

Carmen is available Monday to Friday from 4pm, evening & Saturday morning appointments available.
